Caption remover for short videos
Captions added in a video editor are often burned into the exported picture. Check the source project first, then choose a careful workflow for footage you own or have permission to edit.
Remove text from video ↓Choose an MP4 or MOV. Preview stays in your browser; only the selected clip is sent if you start a removal job.
Find out where the captions came from
Captions in a separate CC track can be switched off without changing the video. Captions added in an editor before export are part of the picture. If you still have the editable project, removing its text layer and exporting again preserves the original pixels.
Try the player caption control before using a pixel cleanup tool.
If you made the clip in CapCut or another editor, check whether the caption layer is still editable.
Plan for captions that move
Use Mask mode to mark a fixed caption area or Prompt mode to describe the text. Captions that move between positions may need frame-by-frame tracking, which is not part of this workflow.
Vertical video can place captions across the center or lower third, so check the full frame before selecting.
A subtitle bar or sticker is part of the graphic; removing the words may not remove that background shape.
Review a short clip before sharing
Moving hands, faces, and detailed backgrounds make reconstruction harder. Choose a representative section, inspect the whole frame, and make sure you have the right to edit and repost the footage. RemoveTextVideo uses Bria Video Eraser to process selected clips up to 4.8 seconds.
Do not use a caption workflow to remove platform marks or attribution that identify an owner.
If the caption layer is still editable, remove it at the source instead of repainting the picture.
Choose removal, cropping, or covering based on the frame
Cropping can be fast when the caption sits at the edge and the composition still works without that area. A blur or solid cover hides text but also hides the picture beneath it. Reconstructing the background can preserve more of the frame, though motion and texture affect how natural the result looks.
A fixed caption bar is easier to isolate than text that moves around the scene.
Check faces, hands, product details, and other nearby elements before choosing a method.
Keep the original framing of a vertical clip
Short-form videos often place captions close to faces and interface-safe areas. Avoid resizing a vertical video simply to hide a caption unless the new crop still preserves the subject and any platform framing requirements. Review the full clip, because captions may move between speakers or jump to emphasize a word.
Record the original aspect ratio and export settings before making a change.
Use a short test section to inspect text that animates, changes color, or appears on multiple lines.
Check supported formats and clip limits
RemoveTextVideo accepts local MP4 and MOV previews up to 500 MB and 10 minutes. Prompt and Mask modes process a selected clip up to 4.8 seconds and return an MP4. The original video is previewed locally; only the prepared clip is sent to fal.ai after you start a job.
Your selected file is previewed locally in the browser in this build.
Use only video you own or have permission to edit.
Questions before you start?
Can I remove burned-in captions from a short video?
Yes. Bria Video Eraser can reconstruct pixels behind burned-in captions in a selected clip. Use Prompt mode to describe the captions or Mask mode to mark their area; results depend on motion and background detail.
Will it remove a TikTok or Instagram watermark too?
RemoveTextVideo is for subtitles and on-screen text in footage you own or have permission to edit. Do not use it to remove watermarks, logos, or credits that identify a video's owner.
What if I still have the original editing project?
Delete or hide the caption text layer in the original project and export the clip again. This avoids reconstruction artifacts and keeps the image intact.
Can a caption remover work without cropping the video?
Yes. Prompt and Mask modes use Bria Video Eraser to reconstruct the background behind burned-in captions without cropping. Results depend on motion and background detail.
Can I remove captions from a vertical video?
Yes. Review a vertical clip in its original aspect ratio, select up to 4.8 seconds, then use Prompt or Mask mode. Inspect the returned MP4 around faces and platform-safe areas.
Can I use RemoveTextVideo for a finished social clip now?
Yes. You can preview a local MP4 or MOV, select up to 4.8 seconds, and process it in Prompt or Mask mode. The returned video is an MP4.
